About Me

I didn’t really travel abroad until I was 25 – a bit of a late start, but I’ve made up for it over the last decade. Currently, I’ve been to 80+ countries around the world and have many more that I want to visit. My early trips were about seeing as many countries and cities as possible in the shortest amount of time.  Over the last few years, my travel style has evolved to spend more time in one place when possible and to also revisit places that I enjoy.  In 2019 I visited 15 countries, but only one was a new country for me.

I started this blog for myself – to chronicle my travels, for my friends and family – who always ask how I afford to travel or where I’ve been, and for strangers – who are interested in seeing and learning about new places. I often use a combination of hotel points and airline miles to partially fund my travel, especially when I want to stay at a luxury resort or fly business or first class.  Ask any of my friends and they will tell you that I’m generally thrifty, but that’s because I’m saving money for travel.

Before taking a trip I do extensive research, mostly online, to develop a detailed itinerary for my destination.  But I’m also realistic and very flexible when unplanned situations force me to change my plans. Hopefully this blog will aid in your research and help you get the most out of your travel. Please contact me or leave a comment if you have specific questions that are not answered on this site.

Happy Exploring!
